You are not going to believe this. I finally made it back into the air today. Two 15 minutes circuits. One b-----y terrible landing and one reasonable one.

I crashed the plane 21/07/06 Seeems a long time ago.

What looked at first as just a wing rebuild escalated into a new cage and consequent total replacement of all connections and fittings. In fact everything is new except the boom and the tail feathers.

The PFA insisted on treating the rebuilt plane as new. Which it was I suppose. By the time the plane was rebuilt and checked out my flying license had expired. Finally got the plane and myself signed off just before Christmas. The check flight was the first time I had flown since the accident. Since then, weather, holidays, weather, weather has kept me confined to taxy trials.

Today was grey but the wind was around 5 mph and cloudbase was around 1800 ft. I checked and found that I had only managed about 5 hours in the Kolb before the crunch so I was hardly what you call experienced. Anyway, with a gulp and a little prayer that the various changes of C of G I had made were going to pan out OK away we went. Off the ground easily a slightly lumpy climb out, particularly when taking off the flap (that is a terrible system) and a few minutes trimming and doing a few fairly sedate turns, round the circuit and into an awful landing. As the first solo landing since July `06 I don`t suppose it was really that bad.
Another circuit and a much better landing and I tucked her away and rushed off to a Rotary lunch.
Away again all next week so next weekend is the next opportunity but anyway I have broken my duck. Hooray The Wx is pretty poor anyway

Cheers

Pat
