Well, as I mentioned earlier, I am now reporting on my new elevator trim installation. In a word it is fantastic! It makes my Kitfox a new airplane! I have the classic version and it was really bugging me to hold back pressure throughout the landing phase. I have had a trim system in every aircraft I have owned except my Kitfox.
I sent the elevator off to Lowell at http://Highwingllc.com . He stripped the fabric and did the necessary modifications to the elevator,recovered,painted to silver and sent it back. Turnaround was about two weeks. He and Mark plan to have a modified elevator on hand so that you could send yours and he will return a completed modified elevator. I couldn't wait so he agreed to modify mine.
I cannot explain in words how happy I am with this mod. The workmanship is great! I installed a "witches hat' trim on the stick and have a LED trim position indicator on the panel. Now just a "blip" or two on final will trim the aircraft hands off in pitch. Also, I no longer need to extend the flaps a little for cruise trim

I also have completed the gap closure on my rudder and fin using foam and fabric. It looks much better. I went from a 2 inch gap to about 1/8 inch.
As to the "Kingfox" tires (actually Nanchang 800) I am not sure if like them or not. I bounce along like a semi on my grass runway and tend to woller all over. I will have to give them some time I guess. They do look nice though (like a pair of doughnuts)
I am still having problems with brake authority. The brakes will hold fine at runup but if you swing the tail, it is a bear getting it back straight using the brakes. The brakes are single Matcos. Maybe new brake calipers or a locking tailwheel will help. My tailwheel is the "standard' Maule

Spring rate is a function of tire pressure. Lower the pressure a few psi at a time until you like the ride.
Proper break in helps with stopping power. Sand the pucks sand start over on break in.
Lots of details on adjusting the break-away on the tail wheel in the archives.

What pressure are you running in your tires? I am experiencing about the same feelings. While taxing on hard surface.the plane set up a rhythmic bounce without the tires leaving the ground. I have 6 lbs in left and 7.5 in right as I fly solo most the time. What are the rest of you running?

Paul, thanks for the info on the tailwheel. I found it in the archives. I will try your suggestion on my weak brakes by installing new pucks although my old ones are fine. I will probably have to get new brakes. I have the original setup with Douglas wheels,single piston Matco brakes and plastic brake lines. (maybe I don't have enough pressure)
