What are chaps using to switch their hobbs timer on with engine start? Is there an alternative to the n/o oil pressure switch? - perhaps sensing alternator output.
Thanks

Mike,

I used a standard marine ignition switch to supply current to the
starter, with rockers for the ignition circuit. The "run" side of the
ignition switch supplies power for the hobbs and the trim circuit breaker.

I used a small vacuum switch from Radio Spares connected to the engine-driven vacuum pump

Mike,
Aeroelectric sells a double throw oil pressure switch you can connect up that when engine is not running turns on an oil light LED for a Master Switch left on warning, and flips the other way when engine is running to operate a hobbs. FWIW......Not flying yet so can't vouch, but that's my plan.
