Anybody have any planning suggestions for what oil I should ask the FBO to stock for a fly-in?

If I have 10 Yak/CJs coming, how much 50 weight, 60 weight, 25W60, etc. should I suggest that they carry?

Thanks,
Jon

I use AeroShell 120 which is 60 wt. Stays in the engine better than 50 wt. If there is any left over i would take a couple of cases.

When I used to figure oil requirement for the FBOs at our clinics, I'd use 1 qt/airplane/ hour of flying. Therefore with 10 aircraft that 10qts per hour of flying. Make a WAG at the numbers of hours you might fly during the show than add an hour for arrival needs and an hour for departure needs. This will give you a close number. At this time of year 100 or 50 wt is a good all around oil. If you feel it will be a little warmer get the 120/60wt. Quiz those who are going if they are using 25W60, turn it into a percentage and have that as part of the total. Like Flush, a lot of guys will buy the extra. The FBO will not have a whole bunch left to hold.

That's I did. Hope that's a help.

John,
The two most popular oils at All Red Star are Aeroshell 100 and Phillips X/C 25/60.
If you have 10 airplanes coming figure 4 quarts per airplane per day and you'll be safe.
Hope this helps.
