Not entirely true,, still in use in many aircraft, including military...
Just more controlled as to "where and how it is used!" They didn't pull it
all out! The B1-B is still about 90% Kapton. Impossible to pull it all out!

I have a lot of experience working with Kapton wiring... Even been to the
Kapton wire maintenance school in the military.. It's popularity came from
increased weight savings,, it can carry same current with wire nearly half
the size. Just don't let it chafe anything and it's fine.. but yes it can
burn like a sparkler if "set off" usually from chafing... If bundled
tightly, the sparkler can spread... usually snuffed at the next clamp in the
wire run... It's the paint-type coating that flashes.

I still think it is good wire for certain applications.. but don't run it
through a fuel tank..
