To carry the thread (finding good source of cool air for cockpit) . . .
I don't get back to my airplane until after March 10. I hope someone out
there can do some fresh air temp checks before then. I was getting ready with
template to cut a NACA vent into the left front to install a source for
radio cooling air. hmmmm, maybe not.
I'll also poke my Fluke meter (temp) around inside the cockpit to see what
the inflow temp is.
Vince F..... I would be curious if your OAT (pickup in front) ever acts in
non-linear fashion... suspecting maybe heat soak ... or reflecting backflow at
certain airspeeds. If you slow down, does the temp OAT cool down ?

I have my NACA ducts for pilot cold air on both sides of the fuselage,
aligned with the cowl split line. I also have one under the wing for the
rear seat pax. All of them flow lots and lots of cold air, no heating at
all on the sides that I can detect. They flow so much air, I generally only
have one going at a time, so two is overkill. However two is nice on the
ground, as I have noticed a slight cross wind can blank one of them out as
the prop blast gets deflected. Anyway, no problems with side mounted NACA
ducts for cold air, even on the ground.
