Anybody flying/building an 801 that has installed a header tank? I'm
interested to see pics of the installation if you've done it.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,

I just started working on my 801 a couple months ago and so I'm quite a ways away from the fuel system - but I've thought of a header tank as well. Would you mind sharing your current plans for your fuel system? Are you going with standard or extended range tanks? Are you going to use the fuel lines that came with your kit or something else? Fuel return lines? If you did use a header tank, where would you locate the tank?

Just curious...

Regards,
Ben

Four tanks, probably run the four feeds down to a header, via selector
valves. Then run the header vent to the tank with the return fitting in it.
From the header to the engine driven pump via a boost pump and a fuel
shutoff valve, then a return from the engine driven pump to the header
through a check valve. Same configuration I have in my Kitfox with my
IO-240B which is injected.

The location and size of the header tank are the main issue right now.
I personally do not like systems without a header. The Fox for example
with a low fuel load can unport the fuel feeds in the rear of the tank in a
steep descent causing an engine out. I have a header fuel low sensor
(optical) which indicates the header is getting air. Which serves as
a warning that the header has lost its feed.

When I get it figured out I'll post what I plan to do.

By the way I'm in Arlington Heights, Illinois and home based at
Schaumburg (06C)

Jeff
