Today Skeeter was intercepted by "Biel" Coast Guard. This while training the military to protect the nations capital. When intercepted, the light board on the helicopter flashed, "Hey Skeeter, I'd turn back if I were you!" Nice personal touch.
Today the weather was better then yesterday because Dave didn't have to fly in the rain and around thunderstorms.

Cool pictures. Don't tell me Dave was getting paid for all of this. That would almost be too much to take. At least my tax money was going to a good use for once.
I'm not jealous.... No really....

Hi Roger,
I wouldn't fly the missions for all the money in the world. He has to take off at a certain time and make his IP on time, it doesn't matter the wind or rain. Dave flys two missions per day lasting about 2 hours each flying in some of the worst turbulence and sometimes at night. In years past the CAP have not flown due to weather but the little FireStar has put them to shame. The day before yesterday Dave took off into a clear air dust devil, lost it on take off. Without Dave getting off the plane I inspected it for damage then he took off again, he made the IP only a few minutes late. Had it been me I would have been changing my pants instead of flying the mission.
I'm very proud of my little FireStar, has made all it's missions and brought Dave back safe. The Coast Guard is only a small part of the outer defense and is what a lost pilot sees when he strays into a prohibited area. After that, if he doesn't turn back, he will be forced down or get shot down. This is why the FireStar is a very important assist to the training. The FireStar has been shot down, in simulations, count less times. Too bad Dave can't get pictures of the fast movers, almost had a close call with a couple of Blackhawks so he is too busy to be taking pictures after the initial contact with the Coast Guard.

So you use your Kolb for simulated border busting missions, to train the Coast Guard for intercept missions?
You should trick them out by painting your Kolb "Desert" on top and flying on the deck to sneak by them.
Paint the undersides sky blue as well and perhaps you can sneak by flying high too.
I wonder what the service ceiling of the Heli is.....maybe you can out ceiling them as well.
Sounds like a challenge in any case....cool.
