I'm about to lay down the soundproofing in the fuse. I bought the stuff from SoundEx. They recommend not to glue it to the skin.
What did you guys use to secure it? Those baggage floor bays are pretty deep and I'm concerned that if I don't glue the sheets down they'll be tumbling around in there...
Regards,
Lenny

I have not used any Dual lock on my plane but Dual Lock from 3M might be a good choice. You only need a small section in each corner to hold items in place.

The photo on the 3M site stinks. I call it Velcro on steroids. Basically interlocking mushroom shaped plastic heads that snap in & out of place. Reusable. Available in different widths, and a couple of different head count. I bet you can even pick up a sample at Staples but bulk purchases on eBay or the like are a better value.

Heck Yes eBay is the way to go. 48” roll for $9.00. Item# 250266278240

I glued all mine down with sticky stuff but I also didn't use the stuff from SoundEx.
I used the black closed cell foam from Aircraft Spruce.

Has anyone thought of using Fat Mat or Dynamat it has a self adhesive backing and the temp range takes it to 0F to 150F.

You may find the cohesive quality of the product to itself exceeds the construction strength of the insulation covering. It may require replacement of insulation down the road.
The issue of not using any glue is a good one. The objective should be the regular removal for inspection for corrosion at each Conditional with the ability to re-apply the insulation on reassembly. We use Orcon insulating blankets (in our fleet) which are laid in, easy to remove and easy to reinstall. The only unfortunate issue is the wicking of moisture and keeping the insulation dry through the life of the aircraft. Hardcoat and adhesive obstruction a quality inspection.
8:30AM Monday - Dan Newland (formerly of Orcon) is speaking on "Practical Reductions of Aircraft Noise" in the 09 Honda pavilion at OSH. Dan wrote an article on the subject for Sport Aviation a couple of years ago that I posted to the archives.
Don't forget thermal as well as acoustic qualities. Moisture kills the thermal characteristics.

Moisture/Corrosion are two reasons that many have used the SuperSoundProof from ACS; it is advertised at not retaining any moisture. Since the subfloor covers are all riveted in, then by using the supersoundproof you've mitigated about as much risk as you can when you glue it in using the Sticky Stuff, which is supposed to be non-acidic and high-temp resistant.
Of course, the installation of an inspection hole could then be the belt/suspenders method if you can't fit a borescope in from behind the cargo bulkhead to check things out.

window glue
Crack SB complete; 6 hours and a couple of difficult rivets (did not remove top shelf)!

Most of the asphalt or rubber based products are far too heavy for aircraft. Unfortunately most of the really good methods add a lot of weight or are very bulky so you just need to look at the different products and find a good compromise.
