Folks,
I have been working on getting something going with this company for awhile and I was finally successful! Most who have camera systems on their airplane know the wiring is a nightmare and the whole set-up is a bit bulky. This thing is NOT!
I was looking for something as well for a military application and found this company. The POV was originally part of a project with the Army Research Lab so the thing is "mil-spec".

I can vouch for it. I use it and built a helmet mount with a bayonet fitting for my HGU-33. The whole system is "wearable", so nothing tangles up if you ever had to egress in a hurry - the camera/recorder just comes with you (which would make for an interesting video).
What I'd really like to find is a multi-channel digital video recorder that could record from three or four cameras to an SD card or hard drive. Anyone have a lead on what might work in an airplane (the commercial systems are all pretty heavy and have prohibitive power requirements).

Joe,
Can you post some video? I am going to visit the local Viper unit and see if they will test thing out and put some G's on it. I might even ask if I can ride along!!!! After that, I am going to strap it to the GAU-2 mini-gun when we go the range to see if can handle the vibration of a 6-barrel mini-gun spewing fire and death!
It also comes with a picatinny mount for you shooters. I will put it on my M-4 and see how that goes too!
We will see if it is truly mil-spec.

Tim,
I'll try to throw some video up on Youtube in the next few days. However, I'm going to have to insist that I be allowed to do any inflight testing, especially if it involves the backseat of an F-16.
I've run with the camera mounted on the glareshield and the recorder literally sitting on the panel behind the main air valve and have had no vibration problems. The video quality is very good.

The original reason behind pursuing this camera was to make it available (cheaply) for another project I am working on with someone else that has a military flavor.

I placed an order for four of these units. One I am keeping and doing some test and the others will be made available on a first come first serve basis. A few have already expressed interest and they will get first shot at them.
If you go to www.youtube.com and put VIO in the search function, you will see the picture quality of the camera.
