|
|
Hi,
I was once told that the Rotax 912(s) is the prefered choice for the 701 becasue it is watercooled and the 701 is too slow for aircooled engines (especially during those short TOs).
I like the idea of having more options in the 750, but is it really that much faster? Or is the air-cooling more efficient because of the bigger cowling?
Thanks,

There are a few factors here.
1) The 750 does have ~15mph more in cruise, so that will help with cooling BUT the cooling issue with the 701 has always been during Vx climb out
2) It is a physically larger plane, so the engines it can use can be heavier. The O-200 is above the maximum install weight for a 701, but within the limits for the 750.
DO NOT ARCHIVE.
