The link below is a video documenting the landing characteristics of my Kolb MK III Xtra with VG's installed. This is with my MK III Xtra fully loaded, 2 people, full fuel, BRS, Gross weight around 950 pounds and both approach and landings are at idle power. The first approach is with one notch of flaps, approach is flown at 50 MPH, slowing to 45 MPH at over the fence height, and flare started at 45 MPH. The second approach and landing was done no flaps at 50 MPH. Video is located at:

http://www.vimeo.com/1440051

From the video, it is clear even though the plane is very low on energy, but there is no tendency for the Kolb Quit or sudden drop upon flare.

There is another Kolb MK III that is based at the field that I fly out of, it has been there for years. The other Kolb MK III is very close in construction to my plane, Both are MK III, mine is the Xtra, the other one is the classic. The classic and my Xtra both have same wing and flap setup. Both have Rotax 912 engines and dual controls, the classic is a bit lighter than my plane. Both are very well built, the Classic used to be used as a demonstrator, some may recognize it. Attached are pictures of both planes.

Three experienced experimental pilots have flown both planes, and all three have the same thing to say... My Kolb with the VG's is a vast improvement to the Kolb without VG's . It is superior to the other Kolb without vortex generators in both the pattern ( feel below 60 MPH ) and landing phase. They always land the other Kolb with a bit of power to avoid dropping abruptly onto the runway, I always land at idle.

These are reports from 3 unbiased pilots, with no spin, no agenda to promote their opinion, or their friends opinions here the list, just 3 guys that have flown both planes and given their observations. One other comment that they have all made, is that I need to take the owner of the other Kolb MK III Classic up in my plane, because once he trys my plane he will want to install VG's also.

Mike

Well ain't no deying it now, is there.....

If the ASI was accurate on my FS II, your approach and roundout speeds in this video were about what I used in that plane, maybe only a little faster.

So that's pretty slow for yours and 2-up to boot.....
