Yes I did, Gary, and I meant to call/email you, but forgot in all the
Oshkosh preparations....I hoisted a beer in your direction...thanks.
I also had a better look at the outer pant-support spindle, and the
nut is welded inside of the tube, then the washer is welded onto the
tube, with the weld fillet being on the backside of the washer.

Thanks for all your help with the wheel pants - hopefully I can reciprocate one day. By the way I fitted a new Jab2200A to my plane upon return to Oz - I ended up managing to get hold of the solid lifter version as this appears to be the preferred unit at the moment.
Performance is way up and at the recommended cruise RPM of 2800 I am seeing 115 Mph at 14 Ltr/Hr burn.
Take off with me and full tanks sees 1100 Ft/Min which is pretty unnerving until you get used to it.
Best regards
Gary

Gary,
It sounds like you have it all together. Good for you. I am in the process of installing a 3300 on my Kitfox S5. I am working on a custom cowling and am doing some redesign after all of the emphasis on getting proper pressure drop. I have been away from home for two months and am about to get serious about the project again.

You're welcome, Gary...glad I could help.
Good show on the Jabiru purchase! Those are very good numbers. I've
seen as much as 1400 fpm, but not often in mine, and can't recall
status of tanks at the time...27 gallons total capacity. I averaged
about 100mph for my recent trip up to Oshkosh over 400 miles (don't
have the figures here with me) using about 2820-2850 rpm, into a
slight headwind. I was almost to the 1200 lb. capacity at the time.
Your plane must be pretty clean to get 115mph. My fuel burn on the
return trip was 5 gal/hr....I was in a hurry to get home, and ran the
engine fast, but it might not have been filled to where I normally
fill it when it was topped off at Oshkosh. I'll re-run my numbers
when I go to the hangar next time. Also in defense of the 5 gal/hr
burn, I did have the EGT's rather cool at higher rpm (needle was
pretty far out of the orifice, I'd guess). : )
