Listers:
I am showing 50 lbs oil pressure at 3500 rpm and hot engine. When I reduce rpm to 2000, I get increase pressure indication to 60 lbs. The sensor is matched Mitchell with the gauge. This does not seem logical. All other tests appear normal.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Hi Ken,
These sound like very real numbers. A few years back Rotax liked a little more pressure than today. They now like the volume over pressure. If you are in the 40's-55 you are good to go. If you drop into the 30's it is not necessarily bad, but I like to test the system and see if the pressure is real or like in many cases it is the oil pressure gage. If your oil pressure goes down with throttle to the 20's or maybe the 30's and then back up at idle check the ground. You probably have one, but an incomplete ground. I chased one of these one day with a meter and the meter said I had a ground, but when I finally jumped around the old ground with a new ground the problem was solved. Oil pressure senders do bad bad at times on the Rotax engine from vibration. It is now approved to remote mount the oil pressure sender to a new location.

Ken,
I too had a similar indication in my 912.Thought it was really odd so I called Dean at Lockwood and just started to describe my oil pressure indications. Before I could get it all out of my mouth he said "the oil pressure goes up when you pull the power back doesn't it ? " I said yes but how did you know. He said that is a common thing with the 912. He said,as Roger did,it has to do with the ground on the oil pressure sensor.
I replaced my sensor(Westach) with another one due to the sensor reading 10 lbs too low and it still does it. When I pull back to 2000 rpm my oil pressure "pops" to 60 lbs.
Wierd engine !

Thanks Roger,
Seems like the 912 is unique. Another owner had same problem.
Will let you know how it comes out.
Ken

Hi Ken,
Don't bother with new senders or gages. This is normal.
