Anyone try using RV or other wheel pants from Aircraft Spruce instead of Zenith”s which are pricey. I am building a taildragger so I only need two and the $450 price tag from Zenith seems a little steep.

And they may not be very well made. I sent the set I bought from ZAC back. The set I got from Van's are superior in fit and finish.

Gig, I don't really know. They came with the finish kit for my RV-8a about 6 months ago. If it is important I'll see if I left the sticker on them, but I think I removed it. Bill

Are they the standard for the RV8A and do they fit on the 601XL? Is so I can just call Vans.

Gig, I really did not compare for fit. With enough spring steel and fiberglass anything will fit anything. Maybe someone else has tried to fit Van pants on a XL, but I haven't. I would post a question thread and see if anybody has made that leap. Best of luck, Bill
