John H,
Have you ever adjusted the gearbox spring preload on any of your b-box geardrives? I am at 100 hours and the rotax manual says the springs need to be checked. Do you know what happens if the springs get too loose. It talks of adjusting with the use of shims. I dont want to have to send my gearbox to Miss.,if I dont have to

It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here.

Ed,
I'm not John, but I have checked the pre-load on the spring washers in my b-box twice. Once at 119hrs and again at 452hrs. They were within spec both times. I still have the shims and replacement springs I bought for the first teardown at 119 hrs. One symptom of loose springs is a lot of metal showing up on the magnet in the gearbox drain plug. The dogbone (knuckle) between the big gear and the prop shaft will begin to move and wear more than it should and you'll see the results on the magnet.
Hope this helps
