Hello all,

I am also new to the group and asking a lot on my 1st post!

my love for Commanders started when my father replaced his Turbo Apache for a 560 in the 70s in Venezuela. He had a ranch in the Amazon and would fly there for long vacations. He also used it for charters all over the country & Caribbeans, but specially south of the Orinoco on dirt strips. He claimed that wherever you could put a C206, his YV-ABE (later YV-515P) would make it too.

now I'm in Toledo, OH. I'm a avian biologist that mostly work in the tropics; I guess those great youth times have not quite dissipated!

I came across your GREAT TCFG web page and also found this space.
I am glad to see that those planes are still flying and wish my father had access to such a great maintenance/flight exchange. (Although this year has been tragic as well...)

It would be a great experience and kind of a dream come true to attend the Fly In, specially at this historical reasons and place!

On that note, how can I join the TCFG and get the newsletter? (specially the latest issue!)
(I sent a couple of emails to the group)

I have noticed that some of you are based in Ohio or Michigan area.

If by any chance there would be one of those rare birds flying by (or taking off) on their way to WPA and willing to pick up a light (150lbs) passenger to help with costs... I'll be willing to drive at least 200mls or more! (Indiana or illinois too!)

at least it will be a joy to hear and read your life with the planes of my dreams!

truly yours,

Peter Bichier

Peter, About ten years ago I had the pleasure of visiting your country on a fishing trip. We fished on the orinoco and ventura rivers and caught a lot of different fish including peacock bass ,Parinah and others. Had a great time, beautiful country! I have a 680 but it may not be ready to go to the fly in,still working the kinks out. Hope you can get to Tulsa. Gil

It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here.

Hi All,

Just so that there's no confusion, Peter needs to get to Bethany-Wiley Post (PWA), not Tulsa!

I'd hate for anyone to miss the festivities Wink

Best Regards,
Barry

ouuuups! that's right... a mixing of letters can be dread full in this business!

thanks for the correction Barry... are you crossing the atlantic for THE fly in?
how can I get a hold of your newletter? should I send a direct email to someone? or is it too late...
Thank you, and some day we'll have to discuss the history of YV-ABE, later on YV-515P, wich eventually was empounded by US authorities in Miami in 1982 or 83... (a long story) I also remember that he bought it in Oklahoma early 70's. My father past away last year and I'm still sorting through his stuff...

Hi Peter,

Yes, I'll most certainly be in Oklahoma City.
I haven't yet missed a TCFG Fly-In since they started in June 1995 and don't intend to for a good while yet!

I will send you the history of your father's 560, which was serial number 211.
I knew it returned to the USA as N5462Z in 1984, but didn't know it was impounded in 1982 or 1983.

Mind you, although there was a Bill of Sale as YV-515P to Page Avjet Corp., in Miami, Florida on March 15th 1984, the Venezuelan registration wasn't cancelled until August 9th that year and it wasn't registered as N5462Z until November 16th 1984.
Hopefully, you can help further with that 'oddity' regarding the dates and provide some background information.

N5462Z was later seized by the Metro-Dade Police Department on April 12th 1985 though, with a Court "Final Judgement of Default" issued in their favour on September 9th 1985.

I'll send you the history of s/n 211 in the form of an Excel .xls file tomorrow.

Very Best Regards,
Barry
