Just got back to Phoenix from the Kitfox reunion fly in. Lotsa
Kitfoxes, old friends and good food. One of the high lights
was the arrival of Dan Denney in his Special Effects Kitfox.
Was really great to talk to him again and see him fly the
Super Sport with John. First owner and the current owner.
Kitfoxers flew in from California, Colorado, Arizona, Oregon
and Idaho.
See you next year!

All,
I have replied to Mr. Whitman off-line. As he is, for the
time being, no longer capable of receiving list messages there is no
need to respond here. Feel free, however, to abuse him directly at
his personal email address prominently displayed below.

Sorry, I seem to think everyone has been around Kitfox since 1984.

Dan built a Model 4 Biplane 10 or 12 years ago. It was painted a
neon yellow with metallic blue scallops. It was named "Special
Effects". The biplane wings are now gone and it has a custom
high wing. I'll get pictures on in a couple of days.

I saw the bi-plane version one night late on some unknown website and have
never found it again. I would be interested in a picture of that if anyone
knows where or how to get there.

Here's another view. At the factory fly-in of 2000 or 2001, Dan flew it over to Caldwell (from Napa) for the Sat evening banquet.

Aside from the shear beauty are there and numbers for performance,
efficiency? I would think the extra set of wings would add weight and
drag. Maybe the are half as long, don't know. While I was looking at the
pictures my mind envisioned it as a low wing as well. Very nice.

As I recall, I read somewhere that the performance wasn't all that great as
compared to the mono high wing, nor was it expected to be. It was just a
one-up concept. I think the wings were just halves. All in all it was a
beautiful airplane and I always thought it would look good at the Oshkosh
museum. A rightful place for it amongst many other concepts. I saw it up
close and personal at Oshkosh and it was as pretty as the photos.

Thanks to all of you who sent photos. You made my day and week. Cool stuff like this really gets me excited about the true freedom of building and experimental aircraft.
