Don, and others ..... when you send pictures, please reduce their size

to something like 640 X 480 ...... I'd love to make them wallpaper
.... but not on the computer room wall!!! Smile

I'm lazy ...... it's just too much trouble for me to save and then open
in a paint program, and reduce size so I can see them.

I'm not sure what your problem is, but when I click on the same pics, from the email I sent, they come up nicely on the page. How about you Rick? What system are you running?

I'm not sure why Linn is having problems, If the files are too big, Matronics won't let them post. I'm runnin a 2 year old Dell laptop on a network server, which is always running slow because we have so many on it...took about 5 seconds to open each. Linn may be hiding out where only dialup is available, (airport?) as are lots of our Ozzie builders, who usually complain (rightly so sometimes) about file size. I'll admit, I like the bigger files so I can zoom into them...that's how I knew you used that same process to make the vents as you did for the brackets.

it's more about what version and what is being used to open .jpg. I have XP and use the standard windows Image and fax viewer. Opens up nicely. May be a Mac or he has the default application to be paint or other, in which case that would be the steps needed to open up the file.

Linn;
if you have XP, let me know offlist and I'll assist with changing the "open with" to be a different app. You'll be fine after that.

Linn and others like me who use T-bird....

Install ImageZoom: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/139

Then you can right-click the pic and choose "image fit"
as one of the zoom options. I think resize functionality
will be standard in 3.0 later.

There is a setting on Internet Explorer and Firefox to automatically resize images.

For Internet Explorer:
- Tools
- Internet Options
- Advanced
- Multimedia
- (Check) Enable Automatic Image Resizing

I can't seem to find the settings in the latest version of Firefox.

This will resize any images to fit your current window.

Its an internet browser setting.

If the problem is file size, we can reduce the size of the pictures we post
to the list several ways. One simple one is to use Microsoft's Power Toy
ImageResizer program. It attaches to your right mouse button and when you
right click an image file name the option to resize appears.
Resizing one of Don's jpeg files (IMG_2277c) reduced it from a 2043x944
pixel 137KB file to a 640x296 pixel 29KB file.
The file name stays the same but the text (small) is added to the end of the
file name, i.e. IMG_2277c (Small).jpg The original is unaffected.

For Microsoft XP users:

I find that it is common to receive pictures that are extremely large for
viewing in email. I use Outlook Express and the Internet Explorer setting
shown below does not affect the size of pictures embedded in my email.
However there is a very simple tool from Microsoft for resizing pictures.
After installation it is available from the right-click menu. The original
file remains untouched and a file with the same name and appended with the
picture size is created. I have found that using the "Medium" setting
usually makes for a good fit in email.

Find it here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Scroll down the right side of the screen and look for ImageResizer.exe

Play around with it and you might find it useful. Simply uninstall it if
you don't like it.
