Hi All,
I know that most have put some sort of rudder trim tab in place. My
questions are these. Should I put a couple of nut plates into the rudder
before I complete the filling and sanding of it? Which side is preferred?
How far up from the bottom? How big should it be? I am envisioning an
aluminum piece that will be bent to adjust later. Probably not as elegant as
it could be if molded in but you can't predict the angle needed in the
future. What to do???

Troy,
I've not found it necessary to adjust rudder trim...

Hi Troy,
Best bet is to wait 'n see if you actually need one....if you do, then tape
a piece of alloy on, somewhere near the bottom, with Gaffer / Race / Duct
tape, [ call it what you will.....]tweaking between test flights, until you have
the required effect.
Then remove it, paint to match, and stick it onto the painted surface with 5
minute epoxy....which is plenty strong enough for the job, but when some
Muppet walks into it / tugs it to see how firmly attached it is / pushes the
plane around the hanger with it...... it will come off without hurting the
rudder !
Cheers,
Nev.
