Stan,
Never even seen a Jab engine. Having such credendials prompts me to offer this: DO NOT drill any holes in your carb!
If there is a rubber hose, gasket of sufficient thickness, or some other method of inserting the probe, just for testing at first, then by all means use that method before you drill a hole in the carb.
Surely some knowledgeable fellow will offer a suitable answer to your question, but I'd back off from the drilling until the precise location of this hole is known.
Typical carb just has too many secret passages cast/machined into it to be hasty.
Besides, rubber hoses and gaskets are relatively cheap; carbs are not.
Best Regards,

If there is a rubber hose, gasket of sufficient thickness, or some other method of inserting the probe into the airstream, just for testing at first, then by all means use that method before you drill a hole in the carb.
