After painting rudder pedals and front gear; I found that they would not fit through the bearings. What is the best way to correct this?

Remove the paint. The bearings will wear it away anyway. Just keep it
with some type of corrosion preventive on the bare metal. Pretty much
all the MIL-C-81309 derivatives work well. I don't like ACF-50 too much
though as it climbs everything in site and everything attached to it will
become oily. Corrosion-X is pretty good. As is CRC Corrosion Shield.
