All,
I am starting to work on the November Lightning newsletter and am soliciting articles, information, tech tips, or about anything else for this and future issues. Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone have any articles, airplane photos or even "centerfold" photos? Anyone give a "sierra hotel india tango"?
Since no one, other than Katie, has stepped up to be a "wingman" on this effort, I now find myself "groveling" for ideas and articles, so any and all help in the form of "written material" or photos will be greatly appreciated. I really think the newsletter is a great information tool for Lightning builders, flyers, and future customers, and I hope it will continue to "fly", but without "stuff" from you all, it will either die or become about as interesting as a political speech. Bummer.
Lightning dealers,
As always, I am happy to report any and all news from your dealership, so send in something for the Lightning newsletter readers. I have had a lot of feedback from future Lightning customers and this is one way they have to learn about where they can buy, fly, or build a Lightning. So get off your "alpha" and send me something about your Lightning business. As any business major will tell you, "it pays to advertise" and this is free advertisement. Hint, hint.
Future Lightning customers,
This is your newsletter also, so don't hesitate to make suggestions as to what kind of articles or information you would find useful in your search for the perfect airplane. In an early issue, Jim Langley wrote an article about the decision process he went through when he was selecting the airplane to build. It was a very good decision matrix on how he arrived at the Lightning. I invite anyone to submit articles for publication. Heck, you don't even have to be an English major or good speller. We have Linda Mathias to do our editing and she will make your article sound like something from Mark Twain or Earnest Hemingway.
Over and Out,
Buz

Buz,
I will write a how to article from the factory. We have been asked to make the tips removable and interchangeable with out seeing any screws. This so you can have the short tips and long tips or whatever you can come up with and have a nice clean finish, well we have figured it out on one of the last build assist here. So if anyone is interested in making there Lightning a transformer well let me know and I will write it up.

Hi Buz,
I, for one, would love to see an article on Lightning auto pilots (the electronic kind, not your significant other riding in the other seat). What kinds have been installed. How they are implemented (controlled from the stick or just from the panel, integrated with the panel EFIS, etc.). Pictures of installations. Problem areas. or quirks if any. . How well they work. What you would have done differently now that you have installed it, etc.

Hi Bill,
Excellent suggestion and I certainly agree that would be a very informative article. What I need is someone to write it. Any takers? I have my plate full just trying to get each issue of the newsletter out on time (besides, I don't have a Lightning).
As far as I know, the TruTrak has been successfully installed by several Lightning builders. I have one in 31BZ and Linda has one in 59JL, but I am sure others are using the various TruTrak models as well. Bill Browns, maybe? Anyone willing to take on Bill's suggestion? This is the type of article that would be very beneficial to lots of builders, both current and future.
Blue Skies,
Buz
