Here's a photo of the San Pedro valley just a few miles north of where
I'm based in Benson, AZ and some prime real estate not far east of
Tucson (former Titan II missile base). All of the little spikes on the
ground in the first photo are 10 to 20 ft tall saguaro cactus.
Fortunately there are dirt road emergency landing options on the other side

Great Pictures! Guys.

Mike,

I had a bunch of those White Egrets nesting over a street from me in a big bush tree.

The constant clucking day and night can drive you crazy.

The people that owned the tree cut it down to the trunk so the birds would not come back next year....but they are pretty....just not in your backyard....LOL
Dana,

I guess we know what happens on runway 32 when people have engine problems at your airport.

Its Under the bridge and look for shallow water to ditch....perhaps life vests are more important than parachutes for you guys.....LOL

Awesome pics guys keep it up....I'm loving it and it is inspiring me to hurry up with my UltraStar so I can make my own contributions.

Heres home base, Lake Elsinore, CA from my Grob 109 motorglider in the mean time.

The Southwest has to be one of the prettiest areas in the country to fly over. I hope to fly these areas one of these days, thanks for posting.

Wow! Shocked Here's my new list of things to NEVER fly over in my Kolb. A new item has been added to the top of the list after seeing that picture:
1. Fields of cacti (if I ever make it out west)
2. Swamps/gators (hard to miss here in south Georgia)
3. Marshes, especially during duck hunting season (doesn't my nose cone look like a DUCK BILL?! Laughing see attached pic)

WOW!
What posh hangars. I must put a pic of mine up one day just to show how the
lower half of the social scale operates.

Cheers

Pat, The airport just built those. I attached a picture of what we WERE using. When it would rain it would wash our chocks away and the hanger would fill up with inches of rain...very corrosive environment. I couldn't afford to stay in these new ones if I wasn't sharing. I may not be able to stay anyways because neither one of us can afford the Million dollars of liability insurance that is required to stay there. We are trying to see if they'll reduce that requirement. If not I may be sharing space with my goats in their shed! Laughing

In my experience the 'lower half of the social scale' (that's me I
fear) has to let their aircraft sit outdoors at the mercy of rain,
snow, hail, dust, bird droppings & cattle with itchy butts. Metal
planes seem to survive this --

Speaking of flying in the southwest, I took this from my titan, but I would have loved to have done this in the FS II.

This is on final approach to the Los Alamos airport, where you can only approach from the east. I took this last winter and it was about 15 degrees in the cockpit at the time.

If you don't have the runway made and there's a problem, you have no escape whatever. It's down into the cliffs with surely lots of unexploded ordinance down there from Los Alamos National Labs' activities. (LANL is visible directly to the left of the runway in this picture. Note also the smoke, there was a fire going on in the town at the time).

aircraft sit outdoors at the mercy of rain,>>

Hi Russ,
mine is inside but still, as it is on a farm, subject to bird droppings,
mice, voles, bugs up the pitot, rabbits or badgers digging up the floor etc

With VG`s on wing coverings have to handled gently too. The only drawback.

Cheers
