A question for the group:
There seemsd to be some level of concensus that a good building order is
rudder, horizontal stab/elevator, wings, then fuslage. There are some good
plans out there for storing the wings until the fuselage is ready.
What ideas are there for storing the rudder and horizontal stab/elevator? I'm
reluctant to just have them laying around the shop.

Jim,
The rolling rack I made for my wings has a place to store the horizontal stab/elevator and the flaps. I can send you a drawing if you want. I stored the wings with the ailerons attached and just found a good place to stand the rudder.

Please. Ideas are appreciated. That would at least solve the problem for the
wings and the elevator.
I'm not sure what I'll do with the rudder as yet, but it will need to be
secured. My rodent extermination engineers are very inquisitive, and seem to
push everything over.
Conversely, I haven't seen any mice since they came on the job.

I've seen a number of builders just hang the tail surfaces on the wall
supported by straps.

Look up. Can you strap it to a ceiling somewhere?

Jim,
Here is what I built. The horiz stab/elevator hangs from nylon straps. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks to all for the ideas. I will probably build the storage rack suggested
by Jay Bannister for the wings and elevator.
Each of us has our own unique requirements. My shop, where I'm building the
aircraft, has sloped rafters, with no flat ceiling area. The walls are heavy
steel beams, with sheet metal. That makes it difficult to store the rubber on
the walls, or to build some kind of storage surface below the ceiling.
I will continue to think on the rudder problem. You've given me some ideas.
