Guys,
I have a Kitfox-II with the older 582. Total time on the engine is about 200 hours. Most of the time I'm flying around at 5,000 to 5,200 RPM. Descents are done at 4,000 to 4,500 RPM enroute to the airport. I cruise about 1,000 to 1,500 AGL. EGTs are always good.
Take off rpm is around 6,500 rpm.
Might I be exposed flying and descending at these mid-range RPMs?

not if your EGTs are in the green. You need to load the engine to keep the EGTs down, one feature I really like about the IFA. I just bump in more pitch on a long decent so the engine stays loaded.
If your EGTs are going up, drop the needles one clip and see if it helps.
I have the Arctic Sparrow mixture control, so I can twist the needles out a turn or 2 on a long decent if need be.
