Hi <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
I want to use Van's tank sealant to paint a rusted steel tank removed from a welder. Pinholes were discovered after it was sandblasted. What is the best thinner to thin the sealant to a paintable consistency. I currently have lacquer thinner and toluene.

MEK works great to thin proseal. It's nasty stuff though so use proper precautions.

I found the data sheet online which said it contained toluene. I figure

that would work.

Sherman,
The manufacturer recommends thinning with Toluene. Lacquer thinner is 95% Toluene. I had the lacquer thinner on hand, so I always used that. I've built 3 sets of tanks (RV8A/RV6A/RV9A) and none had leaks.
