Well, actually Lakeland. First had to sweep off 8 inches of sunshine off the hanger pad and then taxi out. Check list complete, call tower, canopy full back in 82 degree sunshine, sunglasses set and away. Paid for this though, cost a whopping $2.75/gallon of 100LL. Back at the ranch, took my live-in GIB for fresh strawberry and shortcake... and jeez, now it's Happy Hour already.

Hmmm, maybe this is why I retired to Florida.

At least him saving to have not to pay for his lunch, got him to buy his live-in GIB strawberry shortcake. You're welcome Debby Smile

get 2 to 6 inches tonight. Can't wait to fire up the snowblower
later tonight. Don't you miss that?? Be down there next month!!

Lets see... Woke up Sunday morning to 51 degree weather. By 10:00am it was down to 24. By 5:00 it was down to 11. Yesterday our high was 3 degrees above zero with a windchill of -20. Today we got up to a whopping 10 above with 4 inches of snow falling since 8:00am. Only in Iowa!

Plans are to move to Florida when I retire! If it keeps this up maybe sooner!

You guys think you're SO cool w/ your sunny weather and ideal, open-cockpit flight conditions. (...and you are!) But my GIB does lingerie modeling, and even at -4 degrees, she has the innate ability to easily melt all the snow and warm my...um..."heart." The moral of the story is...life is a trade-off. You just have to decide what is the better end of the deal. Smile

Yeah, 3 inches of rain and snow down to 2500' here in SoCal. AND I have to fly an L-39 with 4 F/A-18's again this Friday in a fly over supporting Snowball Express (www.snowballexpress.org). Sometimes this job is extremely difficult. Wink In all seriousness, this is a great charity and I'm so honored to be able to in a small way show appreciation for these families that have made the ultimate sacrifice.

I happened to be in the terminal at the Orange County airport yesterday as one of the 5 Snowball Express flights arrived. American Airlines donates these aircraft to fly all over the country picking up families to attend this yearly event that supports over 2000 families of the fallen. As I sat there and watched a young mother of 4 young children, the oldest one about 6 and the youngest an infant, come out of the jet way and greeted by cheering volunteers, I could not help but shed a few tears. 4 kids without a dad who was killed in the name of our freedom.

In this season of giving as we celebrate the birth of the He who is the ultimate example of charity, I invite you to visit www.snowballexpress.org and consider making a donation. I can think of no greater cause than supporting those families who have supported us with the ultimate sacrifice.

A warm Merry Christmas to you all.

Barry

Well, it was refreshing to see that some of you guys still notice WOMEN as well as WARBIRDS! Personally, I feel it's only satisfying to be "current" in both! Only, with one - a "touch n' go" is a practice drill, with the other, it's a misdemeanor!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, YAKKERS / CJ'ers!

What Craig fails to mention is that in the winter the highways in Florida are a death zone... AARP bluehairs like Craig are myopically weaving their way down the roads at 35mph being a total hazard to driver and pedestrian alike... They flock like gossiping snowbirds.. clogging the Cracker Barrell, the IHOP, and Denny's making it all but impossible to get a nice sunday breakfast!

At least there ain't too many lamp posts in the air for you to hit in your CJ craig!! Smile

And then there's the summertime in Florida!! Dear GOD what a sweaty furnace of a stinking hellhole that place becomes... When the afternoon thunderstorms come.. they are no relief. The ground just steams afterward like some primordial sauna...

Actually.. Just kidding.. I lived there for two years.. and If I could find decent work there I'd be there in a heartbeat. Places like St Augustine, and Key west are some of the most awesome places I've ever had the fortune to visit..

And the Bluehairs ain't so bad.... Except Craig of course! Smile
