All-
Some said yes, some said no. I went with fuse blocks mainly to save a batch of time drilling and soldering.
The question is, where do you put them? What do they look like in a panel mount?

Hi Bill,
I put my fuse blocks on the horizontal channel that runs from the firewall to the instrument panel. I figured I didn't need or want access to the fuses in flight. Indeed, after a life time of driving cars and flying planes I have never had a fuse failure or circuit breaker trip.
I also built large inspection panels in the forward top skin. This allows easy access to the fuses and also to the back of the instrument panel.

On the Van’s RV-12 they just mounted the block behind the panel with a nice trim piece:

Given the lack of visible mounting hardware I’d say they mounted the actual fuse block on a hidden bracket.
I’m not wild about having the fuses exposed where they could get knocked out of the block. My plan is to recess the whole block and cover it with a hinged door. If I use the Waytek LED fuses I’ll make the door transparent.
Others have mounted the fuse block on a hinged panel that folded up under the panel. If you follow the “fuse” philosophy then you don’t plan on messing with fuses in flight – just “fly the plane”

I also went with fuse blocks. I put them on a horizontal panel that's
hinged to the bottom of the instrument panel, with two pull pins on the
other side so they can easily be dropped down for fuse replacement.

Bill,
This is what I did. I found a fuse block that had the feed wires in the
back and fuses in the front. It has two buses and is smaller than the
fuse block sold on the B&C Specialty web site.
Just another option.
