Reminder: All SERV and non-SERV interested parties are invited to meet at Carthage (5NC3) at noon tomorrow, Saturday, Jan 3rd. Weatherman is calling for clear skies, 56 degrees and very light winds.

5NC3 is a private airport but open for public use. No prior permission is required. CTAF is 122.9. Parking is on the grass on the southwest side of runway 13/39, next to the Pik-n-Pig BBQ restaurant. The restaurant does not take credit cards, so bring real money.

Here's the AirNav link:
http://www.airnav.com/airport/5NC3

5NC3 is not in many GPS databases, so take note of the coordinates if you have an older GPS. See you all there.

Sadly the TAF for GSP does not indicate that we are going to have decent VFR here until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. And visibility is forecast to drop again at sunset tonight.

I really wanted to get to this event.

Maybe next time.

If it is decided to delay this a day, let me know.

Dale,

Did they just change the GSO TAF? I just read sky clear at 8:30 AM EST
and the next entry is Scattered at 2500 tonight at Midnight. Winds are
light all day. Fog this morning obviously. Similar report for KFAY

Or has it been too long since ground school?

I think we are still planning to try to go if possible.

I'm leaving for the apt shortly. If the weather lifts as forecasted, we'll be there. If it doesn't clear by 12, I'm going to bail.

At 10:00 the weather was low IFR for the whole route form Columbia. I am watching to see if it lifts, but it’s doubtful.

I'm out. AIRMET predicts the low conditions will last though 15-18Z. Looks like it may be the latter. Weather out the window has yet to budge at all.

Len,

So far, so god. I have had a couple of premature failure issues with a tach drive that failed and leaking crankshaft seal, but those are now fixed. I'm still flying without gear fairings, but plan to put those on soon.

The short evenings makes finding time for flying during work week difficult. So far I have about ten hours on the airplane. I have a 40 hour phase one testing period so I will tethered close to home for a while longer.

I love the way the airplane handles. Its nice to finally fly an airplane with some amount of climb performance and speed (compared to the C172 and PA-18 I had been flying).

I hope to be able to join in with the SERV fly-in activities as soon as my Phase 1 is finished.

Craig
