List,

I think I know the answer but would rather ask for conformation.

When looking at drawing 6-C-3 there are 2 sections, A-A and B-B.
Both of these show the Canopy rail at or near flush to the fuselage side.

When you start with the Rail bolting to the Upper engine mount/Canopy bracket there in itself there is a offset of several millimeters in itself . This means the section B-B is not true. What about section A-A! IS it true showing flush to the side?

So, before I place my strikers, what is the rail to fuselage side flush condition at the striker and then going forward to the hinge point of the rail? Or, what have you guys done that have past this area of assembly?

Rich,

My canopy rail is close to being flush to the fuselage sides all along it's length. Not exactly flush, but close. Wherever it is not flush, it overhangs slightly. The attached picture is the only one I could find that kind of shows the fit. This was accomplished by judicious bending of the frame. Without access to any kind of bending equipment, I used clamps, table corners and a bit of mallet hammering to coax it. Once I got the frame w/ tubes attached to sit where I wanted it, I placed the strikers to match. By the way, I had to shim the strikers up for the best latching spot.

Good luck,
