FYI.  Here is a video examining the suitability of various landing lights.  I saw it on today's AvWeb.

Thanks for the informative re-direct to the Utube video.  Made me wonder the impact of a flat reflector surface with the LEDs vs.a more parabolic like the incandescents and HIDs?  Durability and cost vs. throw distance.
