Hi guys,

For the guys that fly on floats. How long does it take you in hours to switch from wheels to floats, or floats to wheels? I know some guys just leave their birds on floats, but there have to be some that switch at least seasonally. In info would be helpful.

Jon

If your 701 has a previously been on amphibious floats
that now are going to be re-installed it typically comprises

(0) lifting up the fuselage
(1) switching to the shorter main gear springs
(2) switching the nose gear lower part to the bending version
(3) attaching the triangular support and back beam
(4) attaching the floats to the gear and the triangular support
(5) attaching the hydraulic and brake hoses
(6) rigging the liftig of the the rudders and the nose gear lock
(7) rigging the control wires from the water rudders to the air rudder
(Cool testing gear operation before letting down.
(9) determining COG when back on wheels

The rigging of the 701 floats takes a surprisingly long time
even if everything has been in use before on the same plane.
And you will need help, rather hard to do it all alone.

Well, personally I have only removed 701 amphibious
floats, never put them on, but I think you should
reserve a full day for the float installation.

regards
Max
