Gang: I am looking to start a formal formation flying program for 601XL/650 aircraft, along the same lines as the existing non-aerobatic program for Grummans as part of FFI (Formation Flying Inc.). FFI is the group that certifies non-warbird demo groups (including RV's) for the FAA.
I am looking for experienced formation pilots in the Southwest region (Ex-military is good.) to form a core group to work out the details and re-hone their skills, and who will later help non-experienced pilots learn the best kind of flying there is! I am in the Phoenix area.
I have already done a draft 601XL/650 supplement to the T-34 formation flying manual, which forms the basis for all FFI standards and procedures and am working on the briefing guides.
I would like interested aviators to reply, stating their interest, aircraft and engine, experience level and whether they would be willing to travel (and how far) for practice clinics.
Thanks,
Andy Elliott

Hi Andy,
I am strongly in favor of all sorts of group flying activities.
Formation flying is a mystery to me - the only experience I have with
it nearly resulted in a mid-air collision. So, I would greatly
appreciate the training/learning part of your program.

Really? There ain't zippity do da at their web site. As the official group, you think they'd have at least some information, but there's basically nothing at all.
