I hung around Avidyne just long enough to get my “employee discount” on a PFD and MFD. My airplane building is a little slow, but 2009 should be the year!
I have only observed it tangentially, but it seems my former colleagues have not moved to support experimentals as much as I would have hoped. They have been going after some of the certified retrofit market instead, but now Garmin is moving in that sector, too. Hard to compete with someone who has the amounts of cash that Garmin generates.
With the overall economy the way it is, and the OEMs cutting way back, I can imagine it would be getting stressful. Garmin has their home/auto/marine groups to at least diversify. (But presumably those sectors are contracting, too.)
Did I post a W&B spreadsheet? It shouldn’t be password-protected. Somebody point me to it and I’ll check it out. Or was it someone else?
