Wow I wish I had a set of those when I did the engine overhaul on the
Saratoga. I have a hard rule no tie wraps in the engine compartment just
clamps as needed and wires tied with the proper wire string as needed.
The engine looks perfect and everything is secure.

No. However a simple piece of hacksaw blade and your pencil grinder can make an Adel lock tool which is easy to install, easy to remove and just plain slick. Discarded Medical Forceps work on the cheap.
If you are doing triple stacked or quad stacked Adels for a living then maybe the tool will prove itself.

I use a small pair of hemostats to hold the andel clamp closed. You can
usually pick them up at a flea market of fly mart for a couple of bucks.

How about these,... if you don't have several straight and curved hemostats,
you are missing a couple of great tools. About $4 at Dollar General. You
can also use them to hold small nuts and washers very effectively.

I will capture several pictures from work tonight and edit them down for
the bandwidth impaired. An Awl (from Harbor Freight), A discarded
locking medical forceps or two (they sell new ones at Harbor Freight), a
broken hacksaw blade 3" long(I have a few). The Pencil Die Grinder was
already talked about to fab the blade mod. The finished product will do
6-32, 8-32 or 10-32s in a second. For the more technical types that
would be MS21919 clamp installations.
Double or Quad stacked Adel's that are filled to capacity are lots of
fun (Like tying your shoes with gloves on). For the $86 bucks that will
buy a lot of Tall Neck Lone Stars, Coors, Sam Adams, Becks or Big Gulps.
We ran into a problem working inverted inside fuel cells and under floor
boards (blind) with just the forceps. An ole timer got out his "Poor
Boy" tool. Pictures will answer the 1,000 words that no one wants from
me.
That said, some of us are still suckers for more tools. Will answer
questions to the pictures "Offline".

Here are the shots I promised. One is a range of cheapo tools, another is a modified Canon Plug pliers, another is the use of the ole busted hacksaw blade. They should be self explanatory. They are designed to work in Tight spaces to which the really cool $86 pair will not fit. The blade is grooved with a 3" Harbor Freight cutoff wheel to accept 6,8 or 10-32 Adel Screws and MS attachment nuts. Your fingertips will love you.

I actually bought a set of Adel Pliers at OSH a couple years ago and after a couple times using them I went back to the fly market/Harbor Freight hemostats and needle nose vise grips as shown in John’s pix.

John I can tell you for certain that the answer to your question is, YES! An emphatic Yes!!! I have used these pliers for about six months now on plenty of jobs, with success and a very low stress levels. I have in the past used hemostats, safety wire, vise grips, screwdrivers...etc. All with cuts, limited success, and 4 times the effort and time. I just finished using these pliers to install adel clamps on all the fluid carrying lines that I replaced in a Mooney. Need I say more than MOONEY. Here is one example... Two oil lines side by side, double stacked adel clamps, bushing with the AN bolt running through the firewall secured with a nut in the wheel well. Took me no longer than 45 seconds to perform this task without any stress. Buy the pliers, you'll be glad you did.
