Hi Tim,
My point was that I had to speak English to get my license in the first
place. Why should I have to send them $2? To prove I can speak
English? Sounds like they think they think they were derelict of duty
because they never sat me down and tested me to see if I could speak
English and they want to cover their butts. Oops, never mind...I almost
forgot about the oral part of the PPL checkride so many moons ago.
I know, 2 bucks isn't a big deal to many...but...$2 today, $5
tomorrow...$25 when they invoke user fees. Where will it stop? I for
one think that if government wants to "take care of us all", they can
start by providing services. My taxes should cover the lousy $2.
I already have the nice plastic license with Wil and Orv and the non-SSN
ID#. If they're losing more money by only charging $2, so we really
want them in charge of the coffers filled with our tax dollars?

No, but you have to have a plastic license by 2010 or 11 IIRC. I know
one of my certificates is still paper...thinking whether I want to bother.
