Does anyone yet have any direct experience with the new NavWorx
ADSB-in system? Their web site is kind of scant on detail.
I'd like interface data like are they providing straight DO-282A out?
It's a great idea.

I did a write-up of flying with their portable system for some
testing a while back:

I'll be doing some testing of a remote mount unit shortly,
so in a while there will be more info I can show. Right now
they are shipping their remote mount ADS600 though, so it's
actually available and works in the coverage area.

Hi Tim,

I saw your write up and pix!

You said you liked wiring and interfacing and such, so can you tell
me what interface you used to the Chelton and what software mods
were needed.
The standard TIS-B and FIS-B I/O is described in the RTCA doc I cited,
but I don't see where NavWorx describes what they do.
Was the Chelton preprogrammed to take std ADSB or did they
work with the NavWorx guys to create an interface?

I myself would like to feed the NavWorx into my BlueMountain Gen4
system

Thanks,

Ira,
Thanks, it was fun to do the flight with the NavWorx box and see
what ADS-B would be like. For a lot of people, even if you have
XM or WSI weather, it's going to be a nice thing because many
people have Wx on their 396/496 or whatever, but having it on
your EFIS makes navigating around things much easier.

On the Chelton, they were ahead of the pack when it came to
ADS-B...keep in mind that they worked with the Alaska Capstone
project, so they've done ADS-B longer than most everyone.
They used a Garmin box I think though because back then that's
all there was. So the Chelton already has an ADS-B interface
that you can configure on it. I don't know the
specs on how a standard ADS-B interface is supposed to
look, but I can tell you that when I test flew the portable
NavWorx system it already just worked, out of the box. So in
my case there really was no work to do if someone just wanted
ADS-B. I believe if the Blue Mountain was programmed to be able
to utilize a standard ADS-B data stream it probably would
work fine. Perhaps that's something that BMA can add to their
system down the road?

The NavWorx site lists several popular EFIS's as being compatible but BMA wasn't listed.
