Hello all, I purchased a used RC Allen Turn and Bank indicator PN 82a-11 for a good price I might add ,to install on my Kitfox IV. Trouble is I didn't get the installation instructions so I'm kinda stuck. I called  the factory (Kelly) and they said no instructions are available which seems kinda strange to me. Any way, my main problem is the type and size of wire to use, circuit breaker size and how the wire connects in the connector. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi C

  

 Only 2 connections and it is marked on back.  Kind of hard to read C you will have to probably buy the Cannon connector or Amphenol.  Number 20 ga wire is more then enough 3 or 4 am would be my guess C its only to protect the wire anyway.  I am in my motor home working on plans for home in Mazatzal Airpark C Payson C Az.

wiring diagram.

All the instructions you will need are in AC43.13 1b/2a  download it form

the FAA site....Free!!



Sections to check are the sections on wiring and panel installations in

respect to being able to sustain G forces without wrecking your panel. 



Fuses/breakers should always be as close to the buss as possible.  Most

certified jobs actually have one post of the breakers actually on a buss.

That way everything downstream is protected.  I have seen guys who put more

than one thing on a breaker.  For instance they may have the T.C.  wired

with the radio.  If the ever get into a situation where they have to load

shed they may have to shut down their radio to preserve the battery.

I looked around for current specs on your particular T/B but could find nothing. However, it is a relatively modern one, which means it is probably very efficient. Even my noisy old T/B draws only 1/4 amp. Therefore I would advise using a 2A circuit breaker and either 22 or 20 gauge wire.    

   

AC43-13V requires some interpretation and it certainly doesn’t tell anyone how much current your T/B uses. However, it’s the Bible. You will find table 11-3 is most useful. The AC can be downloaded from http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgAdvisoryCircular.nsf/key/AC%2043.13-1B  

   

(One very common misconception is that a CB should be rated to for the expected load. This is not right. But because of the misconception, some guys will go through all kinds of trouble to find a 1.5-amp circuit breaker for a piece of equipment that has a nameplate rating of 1.5 amps when they’re actually using a wire capable of carrying 10 amps. In actuality, the CB should simply be sized to the wire gauge. This is because a CB is meant to protect the wire, not the equipment. If the equipment is going to smoke, a CB won’t stop it.)
