All,
I just sent the latest Lightning Newsletter to Pete and Jim to post of the two web sites. It should be available to read or download from those sites later today or this evening. As always, I appreciate any feedback or suggestions. Also, please continue to send photos or articles directly to me that you want considered for the newsletter. I always like photos of your aircraft - who knows, you might see your jet as a future Lightning of the month.
This latest issue has lots of Sun 'N Fun photos for you to enjoy (32 pages), as well as some good info from Lightning builders and flyers. One article I am sure you will enjoy is Pete's continued article on the Bing altitude compensating carb. Great info.
Go to: http://www.flylightning.net/  (and click on newsletters on the far right)
or: http://www.jimslightning.com/html/home.html

Again, please let me know what you think and send some "fodder" to keep the newsletter fed.
Blue Skies,
Buz

I didn’t see it on Jim’s site either but it was on the official lightning website:
http://www.flylightning.net/Newsletters.htm

If you’ve been there before you may need to click the “Refresh” button for your browser.

Scroll to the bottom of the list.

If not already, it should be up on the Arion Site shortly.

Hey Jim: I guess my computer has locked me out of both sites. Would you please go through the steps I need to take to make it work again? I think this same thing happened about 6 months ago. I have tried typing in the address instead of using the copy paste method, but it has had no effect. Both sites only show the April issue as the last newsletter.

Lynn,
When I am on AOA that sometimes happens to me as well - the newly published issues do not show up. However, if I sign on using Internet Explorer the newest issues always show up. I have no idea why and would like to hear Big Jim's solution as well. These darn 'puters are sometimes hard to understand - kind of like the "other species". I love them and love working with them, but their operation and the correct buttons to push are often hard to understand.
By the way, never did see your jet at SNF. And you must have spent lots of time in the type club tent.

Guys...

It has to do with your browser cashin the old web pages. I can
explain in more detail later when I am not on my phone. In a
nutshell, you need to select menu items, tools-options and delete the
temporary files. Make sure you are not on the page you want when
doing this. Then just go to the link and you should see everything.

Or go to the target website and click the "Refresh" button on the web
browser.

(For Firefox web browsers the refresh button is labeled "Refresh". For
Internet Explorer, it is the button just to the right of the address bar
with the two arrows that look like they are going in a circular motion.)

Sorry, my bad. For Firefox web browsers the "Refresh" button is now the
circular arrow to the left of the address bar at the top of the browser.

I guess I've used Firefox so much my brain automatically equates the
circular button with the word refresh.

Yes Buz: I spent 4 1/2 days in the type tent. I did not fly my jet over because I would have to leave it sit out side in all that dirt and dust.
I just checked with my AOL browser, and the May newsletter still does not show up. However, it shows up on Firefox. Great Job again, Buz

You’re right Buz, hitting the refresh button in IE does not always work. That is not the problem. It is the way the browser is setup, it will cash the pages of the web site locally on your hard drive. IE does this to help speed things up with you are browsing unless you turn it off. AOL cleans it’s self out every so often so depending on when it erases the cashed pages, you will see the updates, or may not for a couple of days. SO, with IE, or Firefox, if you visit a site once, the page is stored locally along with the address and when you visit the same site again, it does not have to reload the page since you have it stored on your local drive. Now, if I update a page since you last visited the site, and you go back, the old page it still loaded.

Win IE does this as a default.. If you go to "Tools", then "Internet Options". The default tab is "General", and look for the "Settings" button in the "Temporary Internet Files" area, or “Browsing History” if you are using IE with Vista. Click this and select "Every time you start Internet Explorer" under "Check for newer versions of stored pages".

There is another option that allows you to do the same thing every time you visit a page, but I don't use this as it slows things down a bit. A lot of people select “Every time I start Internet Explorer” which is more reasonable.

Also on the same settings page, you can tell IE to only store 8-100MB of cashed pages; I set mine to 8MB so that it does not store too much and the pages I visit will be refreshed more often.

Hope this helps. If not, anyone is welcome to email me and I will walk you through it.
