Well, went out and spun the -50 today. First time in a long time
I've done spins in that airplane. Heck, first time I've gone out and
just flown for fun in months. Man is that fun! The nice spin
characteristics of the -50 reminds me of the guy who did a write up
a long time ago about spinning a -50 from 10,000' and nearly
pancaking in, according to his write up. I just don't get it. The
-50 spins wonderfully and recovers smartly. That was either a
fictitious piece designed to scare people away from a rare airplane,
or something went really wrong. Anyone know the gouge on that story?
Time to start warming up the G-tolerance for All Red Star!
Ready right....

Sure the writer was not talking about the 52 flat spins becoming inverted (See Richard Goode’s (UK) article on this rather scary scenario) ?

The potential problem of 52 spinning is not that the spins convert to inverted [allthough this can happen],but high stick forces;slow recovery [but it will];and accelerated rate of spin during recovery.
