I a have a factory powdercoated fuselage ready to cover. Can the fabric be attached with Polytac directly to the powdercoated surface or does a coat of epoxy primer applied first?

Scotchbrite the powder coat to scuff the sheen and stick right to it.

Ted

Kathy & Dick,

No need to do epoxy over the powder coat. All you need to do is rough up the
surface with with scotchbrite so there is some "tooth" for the polytak to
grab onto. Places you especially want to be real sure are scuffed with
scotchbrite are any leading edge, like the first tube on the bottom which the
fabric is rolled over and the front of the rudder, wings, stab & elev. Be
sure to solvent wash very well after scotchbrite before doing the polytak. (I
can't claim to be the author of this advice, this is what a poly fiber
distributor told me who re-covers a lot of planes including powdercoated
airframes)
