Bill,
looks great. One question - how did you mount the NACA scoop? No rivets seen there.

Bill-
The upright tabs on your canopy side rails are totally different from anything in either my old or new XL canopy prints. Is this something new or your mod? This would be timely information, because I'm finishing off building my side rails as we speak.

The tabs are the same on mine that I purchased from Zenith 2(?) years ago.

Bill P’s frame looks just like the one that came with my QBK. Since they didn’t match what was shown in the plans or the photo guide I asked ZAC what I should do with those vertical forward tabs. Nick sent me the attached document.

Hey Pavel,
The NACA scoops are glued in place. I was contemplating whether I need to add rivets but believe I will do so. They've been on for some time now but I'm not convinced they will stay in place.

Hey Bill,
Don't know about the tabs other than that's the way they came in the kit.

The tabs on my canopy frame looked a lot different. I had to do a lot of shimming, trimming and standing on my head to get the cover panels to fit right. I still have trouble with the rubber seal when the canopy is opened.

Gig-
Is the tab arrangement shown on your plans? Also, are your side covers
radiused like Bill's are? Jay B. reported fit problems with the old style,
and this is EXACTLY the stage in building I'm at. It would be the first time
ever I could incorporate an improvement before it was too late. I'd send a
picture of my side rails, but I dropped them off at the local weld shop this
morning!!
Thanks.
Bill

Bill,
In the first photo, you can see what the tab on the canopy frame looked like. The second photo shows the cover plate in place and the last one shows it with the rubber seal in place. My canopy kit was purchased in August, '06.

Jay-
Your setup looks like the latest prints I have. I hope Gig gets back to me.
I'm trying to put together a canopy from old and new XL prints and there are tons of discrepancies. Some print dimensions are flat out wrong.
In retrospect, as high a price Zenith is getting for off the shelf units, I'm not saving any money and I'm beating my head against a wall trying to make all the different revisions work in harmony.

Fired up the NEW [2004 model solid lifter been in the crate for the last 5yrs] 3300 Jab for the first time since 2004 when it was factory run.A very nice feeling as it started on the first go,just a small hiccup with the Tacho pick up senor length needing adjustment and the idle speed.Hopefully will start flight testing in a few weeks. Cheers
