I probably need to replace the throttle cable on me Kitfox 4 - 912 engine. Mine is bent at the carb link point and I have a hard time to do the carb synchronisation.Do you guys have a good place to order this cable? Any advise on what to avoid and what to look for?

Check out    www.bullyhawk.com  They make an amazing throttle cable. It is some new weave of cable that when you push on it outside of the cover it actually straightens out instead of bending. very neat stuff.

Jack, I had replaced this cable several times and always just used cable
from the local hardwqare store. As I recall it was 1/16 SS cable. Not
perfectly sure, though. With essentially no bends, I never thought that
the internally lubricated aircraft cable was necessary.

Jack,
We have a very nice twin lead throttle cable. Eliminates the bellcrank.

Jack:

I went through the same thing when I needed to replace the choke cables. I just needed to replace the inner cable, since the sleeves were OK. The cables I bought locally and online proved to be too stiff and the chokes wouldn't shut off completely.

I learned that there are different "weaves" (not the real term) available and the way the cable is "woven" affects it's flexibility. The common 1/16" cable is 1 x 16. It is too stiff to use in any application that requires a bend (as the choke cables do). I had to use 7 x 7 cable to make it work.

You may get away with the 1 x 16 on the throttle, but I would recommend the 7 x 7 for that use as well. I think it would give you a little more leeway if you get a kink or some foreign material in the sleeve.

I think I bought the 7 x 7 cable from Leading Edge Airfoils.

Jack,
I bought my throttle cable replacement from Lockwood. It was very reasonable and they sell either the cable or the sheath. If you have the "old" bellcrank,as I have, you can then use Highwing LLc's "throttle bug" which makes carb syncing a piece of cake ! (you pneumatically sync one carb to the other with a turn of a knob-takes all of about 30 seconds !)

Mic,

It must be in some super secret hidden link. I couldn't find it when I went to their site.
