Have a nice, safe trip. Wave as you go by (I am 50 miles up I-91). Let everybody know how it goes.  I hope the plane is as nice as it seemed in the photos.

Well I met the seller in North Caroliner a 6 Hour wait in the hot sun. He opened the door on the trailer and there was damage to the nose cone because the battery was not secured properly in the plane and it burnt off one of the rudder cable springs as well
Then the tires on the trailer wer all sun baked with cracks all over them well Now I have replaced the 4 trailer tires on my way back home
I have some changes to do to the airplane I dont like switches all over the cabin area in all directions the fuel tank is not big enough for me with the kind of flying I like to do
the x owner and his wife tried to make me feel second class I thought I brought a Certified Bank check made out to him like I told him I was going to do because I was not willing to travel through some of the areas that I needed to with that much cash Even the guy in his bank branch I thought was a complete a-hole like I had stolen the check somewhere and him wanting my drivers license and signature when all the lazy sob needed to do was Call my bank and get it verified

I guess I should have only waited a couple hours in the hot sun and called it a great ride and went back home with no regrets and waited to buy something with the powerplant I really wanted
but in a few weeks I will be flying I guess

Ellery- Mine turned out to be not quite as advertised, but the guy did wait at the house for cash when he delivered. Mine also took damage in transit- about 4 holes in the wings. I am doing the same thing while rebuilding- going over it inch by inch. Good luck, and keep us posted on progress.

I am the Kolb owner's wife. First of all, we are sorry Ellery had to wait 6 hours in the hot sun, but we said we would be three between 2-3 and we were there just after 3 pm, he got there early. I am not sure why he thinks we treated him second class, we could not have been nicer to him. And yes, I did have the gentleman in the bank verify that the funds on the check were valid and I am sure if the situation were reversed he would have done the same. The gentleman in the bank was only doing his job and was very professional and pleasant. Ellery did present his driver's license and signature as did my husband...but that was for a notarized bill of sale which is required. I have had a bad experience, so in this day and age with photoshop I am very careful when purchasing or selling something for such a large sum. My husband trusted Ellery 100%, I am the one is careful with transactions. Sorry if that offended Ellery.

Yes, the battery did do damage to the nose, we hit some very unexpected rough roads in South Carolina and felt really bad about what happened, but we gave him a $700 intercom and headsets to compensate which he failed to mention. As far as the weather cracking on the tires, that is a personal call, the tires were fine and we had no problems from Fla to NC.

I am sorry Ellery feels the way he does, but he got a great deal and after I read this I had to respond, I guess you can't make some people happy. Everyone who knows my husband will tell you he is an honest upstanding man. Ellery is the one with a chip on his shoulder.

I have no dog in this fight. I wasn't there. I don't know either of you. All I ask is that both of you end this, now. You've both had your say here and now the appropriate thing to do if either of you wish to pursue this discussion is to do it directly, person to person, email to email, and leave the rest of us out of it. Just my opinion, and yes, I know how to use the delete key, I just don't think I should have to.

Tlongo ( To the wife of the seller ),

There are some people that will never be happy with anything, and will always mislead others or even downright lie about what happened. I am afraid you have run into one of these people when you sold your airplane to Ellery. I once told Elllery in a nice way that he had made a mistake, and he came back with one of the nastiest responses you would ever want to see. Ellery is just one of those people you can count on being wrong or downright misrepresenting anything he posts. While reading Ellerys account and he stated that

elleryweld(at)aol.com wrote:

When I read this,I knew that Ellery most definitely was still carrying around that chip on his shoulder... He must be mad at the world... Showing ID is standard procedure in any bank, and most definitely required for any kind of large check, even if it is real. I hope you don't think that all Kolb people are like this, because most are very good people. We know what Ellery is all about here, and I am glad to see that you responded and set the record straight.

Ellery, you started this thread, and you have been posting to it publicly and regularly since starting it, I don't believe for a second that you thought you were responding privately. This just appears to be an attempt at damage control and an attempt to mislead everyone here after being caught in your first lie. Ellery obviously did not expect this lady and her husband to defend themselves here in the forum, I am glad they had the courage to do it.

I have no interest in this deal, it would be easier just to ignore this, but I believe in truth and integrity, and think dishonesty and those that would do this type of thing exposed for what they are.

Mike

Ellery,
Are these new wings for the plane you picked up in Minnesota ???

If so.... What was wrong with the ones that came with the plane ?

They had some corrosion... But I thought it could have been cleaned

with a chemical ???

I'm guessing this is a different plane...

I picked up a completly different airplane? Mk3Classic from Florida I am tired of building for a while and got one almost ready to jump in? to get away from this planet I will probably sell the MK3Xtra Kit that I went to Minnesota to get or keep working on it to put it on floats? and have the best of two planes I dont have much time for building anyway right now Building planes is Fun but you cant make a good living doing it when people dont pay you.

as soon as I get a decent day off I will be flying again?
