After 3 1/2 years of construction, Series 7 N725CE took off for the first time on July 28th. I'm happy to report that the first flight was uneventful and required no trimming to fly hands off. Power is provided by a Rotax 912S turning a three bladed IVO electronically adjustable prop and it is a joy to fly with excellent control authority and stability (intercoastals were used on both the rudder and stabilizer).  The panel includes includes a Dynon D100, Flight Cheetah FL210 moving map GPS with satellite weather and synthetic vision, EIS engine analyzer, icom A200 radio, and EP Load Center.

Custom features include cockpit adjustable rudder trim and custom built hinge gap seals for the elevator which result in very effective elevator control and easy three point landings just above stall speed. The polyfiber system was used for coving and Aerothane paint was used throughout. Empty weight is 838 pounds...several photos attached.

Looking forward to flying off the 40 hours!

Hi Steve - the elevator hinge gap seals were fabricated prior to covering the stabilizer. I contoured and bonded balsa to the trailing edge of the stabilizer and laminated 1/64 ply to the balsa once it was shaped to mate up to the leading edge of the elevator with 1/16 inch gap at neutral elevator and no gap at full deflection. Just be sure to account for the thickness of fabric and paint while shaping the balsa. Recesses were left for the hinge bolts. I'll take some pics showing the finished product next time I'm at the airport. Easy to 3 point near stall with elevator trim set at neutral.

Thanks Roger - see the link below for the lights. I'm using one spot and one flood - I believe you can get them from Merrill Williams as well. I mounted them by fabricating a bracket from aluminum L channel (Loews or Home Depot) and attaching it using the landing gear attach bolts.
