Can someone out there tell me how to get a Lightning replacement tire. One tire has gone bad; we think it might have been rubbing against the fairing. What brand is being used and how do we get one quickly in Hagerstown MD. Charles

Jim,
  I thought that looked
familiar. Â I had not seen the autopilot before though.
 That thing is
set up like a compact version of what you might find on an
airliner
with separate VNAV and HNAV buttons for quick and
easy use. Â Again,
haven't used it, but look like some time and thought
went into it.
 Thanks, Brian

Their EFIS is a built by MGL
and in that form is called the
Enigma. It has been around for about 4 years and you
are right, it is an
awesome package for the money. I have the MGL Voyager
(next step up),
in my Lightning which is in the Arion booth, so if
anyone wants’ to see
what it looks like in the Lightning panel, feel free to
stop by.

All, I'm not trying to get
you interested in a new aircraft, but there's a company
that comes from the same background as myself called MySky
One. What I'd really like to point out is that
they trust the Jabiru 3300 for their aircraft and they have
a couple of instruments that look pretty good. Take a
look at the MSFAS and MSFIC: http://www.mysky.aero/flight-information-center--lsa-mysky-aircraft-msone-FIC1.html  Now I can't say
that I have experience with using this system, but it might
be worth a look for some of those who have not decided what
to put into your panel yet. Â They also have developed a
carb and mixture control for the Jabiru. Â I'm not
sure if that was the one that was talked about on here
previously or not, but they have over 70 hours on their
plane so it has some time on it and also might be worth your
while to check out! Â Thanks, Brian
Whittingham

Hey Charles: The original tires on my lightning were 5:00 X 5 (mains) Air Trac 4 ply rating tires. They are available from Desser (800 247 8473) in Memphis. The nose tire is also an Air Trac I believe it is a 500 X 4.

I have tried several different tires for my Lightning. The absolute best tires are retreads from Wilkerson Tire and Rubber. Dresser Tire also sells retreads but they are not as good quality and they are out of round. I recommend the 6 ply rated, 500 x 5 retread. They last much longer than an original tire with more tread thickness and they cost less. You can't beat that.
