Last evening was perfect, clear skies, zero wind and not too hot. I couldn't stand it anymore! My new RV-7A has had its airworthiness certificate for almost two weeks - it was time to fly!
So with the help of Mike and Roger Nightingale, and my son Roy, at 17:11 CDT I finally got air under the tires! The pilot (me) was way too nervous to notice much, but it seemed to fly great! Other than the Engine Monitoring System whining at me every time I reduced power (it claimed I was shock cooling the cylinders), it was a beautiful flight. Although the official Hobbes time was 0.3, according to my ground crew the mission elapsed time was exactly 11 minutes!
Oh well, the first one is done. Now it's time to do a full inspection and then start expanding the envelope, and gathering real data.
Thanks to everyone who provided encouragement and prodding, but especially Mike, Roger, and Roy for their help as my ground crew; Terry Crouch and Jim Smith for their technical counselor advice; and my excellent flight advisor Bernie Nitz. You guys are the greatest!

Get that flyoff done so you can join us at a RV flyin so we can shake
your hand and welcome you into this great flying community Vans has
created. LOE in October???
