The AV80R GPS apparently has been on the market for about one year.
Now BendixKing came out, first (?) at Oshkosh this year, with a BIG screen model (AV80R ACE with all of the big $$ items.
My questions: has anybody on the list used or has knowledge with the smaller (AV80R) model. I am somewhat concerned with the touch screen feature in turbulence. Apparently this is the only (??) aviation GPS with the touch screen feature.
SO, let’s hear from YOUR input.

I got one of those systems that used a PDA (with touch screen) for the moving map. I sent it back for that exact reason. It was worthless in anything but still air. Constantly hitting the wrong buttons while bouncing. If you have "fat" fingers it wasn't even that good in still air. I prefer the dedicated buttons on my Garmin(s) and particularly the dedicated software.
My Garmin car GPS with touch screen can even be difficult while moving but at least I have the option (and used it) to pull over.

I haven't flown with my AV8OR in turbulence at all but there is a stylus built into the back of the GPS that can be used if the accuracy of your finger is not adaquate.
I am fairly happy with my AV8OR. The first batch had cheap switches for power and menu buttons but Honeywell replaced the units under warranty.

No experience with this unit, but had some experience with a touch screen EFB in my prior life. You are right to be concerned. Constant problems with screen getting touched when you did not want it touched. Stowing the unit in it's cabinet would often accidentally touch the screen. Then when you pulled it out, you would be on another screen and often had a hard time finding your way back to the desired screen. We switched to a unit that used a stylus. That is not a perfect solution either, but at least the screen stays where you want it. Still can be a bit tough in turbulence. I am using a unit that uses a stylus in my RV-10 now and am pretty happy with it.

Lothar
I use the Anywhere Map ATC (http://www.anywheremap.com/anywheremap-atc.aspx ) which is a touch screen. Here is link where with there comparison of the ATC vs AV8OR vs Garmin 496/596. As for the touch screen (the ATC is small like the AV8OR) usually not that big a deal. I use a mechanical pencil to wright with and I use the eraser end on the touch screen. On occasion (I find not often) when I need a finer point I simple use the led end (0.7 pencil). Also I find I really do not need to tap the screen that much in flight. I have a Garmin 396 (second hand from Ebay) with XM WX and radio. The garmin has less wires for the WX. I like the ATC better for navigation. The reason airport information and frequencies and altitudes for airspace are just one fat finger touch away vs multiple button pushes. They both have pluses and minues but for navagation I like the ATC the majority of the time.
O - one BIG plus for the ATC is $119 (or $400 lifetime) a year gets you updated ALL YEAR long. TFR, airspace everything. Add a little bit more (I did) you get fuel prices. TFR's and fuel are updated frequently (not shire how often but at least a couple times a week). I hook the ATC up to the computer before I fly and I got fuel prices on the fly. It is great. They just came out with a new program that puts sectionals on the ATC. I ordered it let you know how it works if you are interested.
OK all that just to say - the touch screen works for me most of the time not a problem (the AV8OR is probably the same as far as the touch screen goes). But like anything there is good and bad. Find one and play with it. If you are near SoCal or within a hour or 2 of flying with someplace good to eat I will be glad to fly out and let you check out the Anywhere Map ATC (I have no relation to them except I use one).
