I must say that there were some superb explanations of the “Bunny Hop” and the “Crow Hop“ on some other postings but in my experience driving a 701 they didn’t have fur or feathers. On Final Final, that last 20-feet of decent if you allow the sink rate to get to high for what ever reason, the 701 comes down too fast on the main gear. After that your almost along for the ride, meaning, since the main gear is nothing but a BIG SPRING, it launches you right back into the air around 10-feet or so. Now your still tiring to fly the plane but I’m told that no matter how much up-elevator you put in the airplane still makes a nice ark and comes down on the nose gear. If you’ve don it right the plane just flops back down on its main gear and all is well that ends well. But if you’re too aggressive about the maneuver you can cause all kinds of damage to everything, including falling over on your back. I know I’ve NEVER made this mistake but I’VE BEEN TOLD about it.

P.S. If you want to know if it ever happened to a plane just feel the engine mount tubing under the top of the nose gear strut and if it’s dented from the strut traveling too far up that plane has been bunny hopped. If it’s a plane your thinking about buying you should then check the lower nose gear mount and floorboards for bending and deformation.

Thanks for all that shared an opinion or experience with me on bunny or crow hopping. I have put almost 5 hours on the plane, playing on the runway progressing from high speed taxi to two wheel hi speed taxi and an occasional slightly airborne scenario.
Although I have not had enough altitude to hurt anything, I can see where this is going to end if I keep going. The way I see it, the hops don't allow enough time to get in and out of ground effect and leaves the pilot over correcting to try and stay on top of the plane. I now believe the best solution is to just take off and fly it, settle down and get used to its sensitivity then land with a power on.
Now that I have worked out most of the little bugs, I will get my biennial in order and go as flying as planned.
